These two paintings are not actually a diptych. Each stands as its own statement but the matrix is similar so they are shown together. Reinike uses the archways as an entrance to enlightenment.
Book of Dreams (left) alludes to the writing in Ancient Egyptian texts on interpreting dreams and thus an aid to understanding the spiritual world as part of Man's being. The upper arches echo an interpretation of one of Pharaoh's dreams.
The archways in Building Blocks are actually tablets of the Ten Commandments - (building blocks of an orderly life). The lower windows are the foundation of the upper windows. The upper arches contain a triangle, a fish and a descending dove. (Holy Trinity, Ichthus, Holy Spirit)
