Donna Johnson creates her paintings using encaustic as her medium. She combines her pigments in wax and applies that heated wax to her surface. She then begins the process of adding wax, scraping some of it off and then adding more of the wax mixture. When she has finished the work, she fuses the surface with heat which gives a rich silky sheen.
