Book of Dreams II alludes to Joseph's Coat of Many Colors. Reinike uses the rainbow as a symbol of the colors in the coat and a symbol of God's Covenant with Mankind.
The hieroglyphs and hieratic script in the background suggest an ancient papyrus fragment that described ways to interpret dreams.
Reinike built the frame that he gold-leafed and toned.
