The cicada is a favorite keepsake in Provence, France. The cicadas are regarded as good-luck charms or symbols of hospitality. Reinike was asked to create ornaments for a Christmas tree that featured the creature (image below). The shape inspired him to use the cicada for a letter opener, too.
The ornaments are available in the gallery year round. Use them to hang from a knob or place them on a book as an accent piece. Or just use one as a paperweight. They also can be used as a necklace by removing the short cord and replacing it with a longer piece of cord. - $65 -
