Rich color and seemingly infinite layers of paint are the hallmarks of Henry Callahan's Abstract Expressionist paintings. Oversized canvases and dramatic shapes create visual interest. Figurative works are a combination of the expressionism and setting boundaries with grids that reveal subliminal subjects.

Callahan, a Georgia native, received his BFA in Visual Design and Painting from Auburn University. After college, he left for New York City where he worked as an Art Director, spending many hours in the city’s museums and galleries studying the works of master Abstract Expressionist and Impressionist painters.

Callahan has traveled extensively throughout the US and internationally, incorporating nature, and the colors and textures from the many countries he has visited into his paintings. The artist currently works in his Marietta, GA studio.
